Who we are
We're a small independent team in Korea. Every day we cover K-pop, K-dramas, Korean entertainment, food, beauty, travel and practical guides — what fans abroad want to know about Korea. We're not affiliated with any entertainment agency, broadcaster or fan community.
Nine languages
We publish in nine languages, so you can follow Korean news in your own:
Written with AI
Articles are written and translated with AI from official announcements and Korean media reports. Automatic checks compare every number with the sources and stop us from copying their wording, and a draft that fails is held for human review instead of being published. The details are in our editorial policy.
Where our data comes from
- Yonhap News Agency: Korean news headlines and links from its public RSS feeds — our main source of facts.
- Google Trends: what people in Korea are searching for today.
- theqoo: post titles and view and comment counts from a Korean fan community, used only as a signal of what fans are reacting to.
- Wikipedia page views and Wikidata: public statistics and data released under CC0.
Photos come from official sources or Wikimedia Commons and are credited with the author, the license and a link to the original.
Our crawler: HallyuBriefBot
To see what's happening in Korea, we fetch a small number of public pages. Our crawler identifies itself with this user agent:
HallyuBriefBot/1.0 (+https://hallyu-brief.vercel.app/en/about#bot)- It reads robots.txt first and follows it. If robots.txt can't be read (a 401 or 403 error or a bot check), it treats the whole site as off-limits.
- It visits public pages only and pauses between requests. It never logs in and never hides behind rotating IP addresses.
- From community sites it keeps only titles, post numbers, view and comment counts and times — never post text, images or usernames.
- Nothing it collects is used to train AI models.
