> Game 4 of the MLB American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians was called off because of rain on October 17.

## Key points

1. Game 4 moves to October 18 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
2. Game 5 is set for October 19, a day originally reserved for travel.
3. Cleveland leads the series 2-1 and faces the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series from October 24 if it advances.

## What happened to Game 4?

Game 4 of the 2026 MLB American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians was scheduled for October 17 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. According to SBS World News, the game faced continuous weather delays and was officially canceled after more than an hour of waiting.

## When will the series resume?

Game 4 will now be played at the same venue on October 18. Game 5 is scheduled for October 19, a day originally designated as an off day for travel. The schedule was reported by the broadcaster based on official MLB arrangements.

| Game | Date | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| Game 4 | October 18 | Progressive Field, Cleveland |
| Game 5 | October 19 | Progressive Field, Cleveland |
| Game 6 (if needed) | October 20 | Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg |
| Game 7 (if needed) | October 21 | Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg |

## Could the series move to Florida?

If Games 6 and 7 are necessary, they will be played without an off day on October 20 and 21. The venue would move to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Cleveland currently leads the best-of-seven series 2 games to 1.

## Why does it matter?

The rain delay is the first ALCS game canceled by weather in seven years, since a 2019 Game 4 between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros. The winner of the series will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series, which begins October 24.

## For international fans

The MLB playoffs follow a best-of-seven format, so a single postponed game can shift the whole schedule. Fans outside the United States should check their local time zones, since Cleveland games are played in Eastern Time.
